We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm by appointment only. We are available 24/7 to see after-hours emergencies as well. Medications can be picked up at STVO throughout the week.

South Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology (STVO) is committed to helping its patients live happy and healthy lives with minimal discomfort. Our board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists and well-trained staff provide expertise and advanced training in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases.
As veterinary specialists, we work in conjunction with our clients primary care veterinarians to ensure that our patients receive the best care at all times. We understand the special bond our clients have with their pets and will always do our best to provide a safe, calming and thorough consultation while examining and diagnosing patients.
It is our mission to provide the most advanced and affordable veterinary eye care available, and to create a welcoming and comfortable service-oriented environment for the people and their pets of San Antonio and all of south Texas.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR PET NEEDS AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST?
Your pet needs to see an ophthalmologist when there is an ocular emergency, your pet’s eyes are not improving with standard therapy, or the diagnosis includes glaucoma, blindness, or cataracts.
We encourage veterinarians to contact STVO when their client issues are beyond the scope of typical therapy. At all times, we work in conjunction with your regular veterinarian to ensure your pet receives the best possible care.
Common signs and symptoms when your pet has an eye problem include:
- Loss of sight
- Eye discoloration
- Behavioral changes
- Clouding of the eye or cataracts
- Red or swollen eyes
- Growth on or near eye
- Light sensitivity/squinting
- Excessive tearing or abnormal ocular discharge
- Rubbing or pawing at eyes
SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY
Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm by appointment only due to specific hours dedicated daily to ophthalmic examinations, consultations, and patient surgery.
Please call (210) 962-5388 to schedule your appointment and we will make sure to connect with your general veterinarian so he/she can fill out the necessary New Patient referral paperwork before your first visit. If you do not have a general veterinarian, we can still see your pet as long as it is not an urgent or emergency situation.
Patients seen after hours will be charged an emergency fee. Emergency patients can be seen during normal business hours that do not have a pre-scheduled appointment but will be charged an urgent fee upon arrival in addition to other diagnostic fees.
We kindly ask for a 24-hour notice for all appointment changes or cancellations.
Medications can be picked up at STVO throughout the week.
