STVO focuses on diagnosing and treating eye conditions of small animals while emphasizing preventative medicine whenever possible. We will not overlook the overall health and wellness of our patients.

Our specialists can provide, but are not limited to, the following skills and services:

SURGERY

  • Cryotherapy treatment of eyelash disorders and diseases
  • For eyelid abnormalities (entropion, distichia and ectopic cilia, etc.)
  • Corrective procedures for eyelid or conjunctival tumors, dermoids, and reconstructive blepharoplasty
  • Corrective procedures for prolapsed gland of the third eyelid (Cherry Eye)
  • Corneal wound repair and complicated ulcer management
  • Surgical removal of corneal foreign bodies and corneal sequestrum
  • Micro-incision cataract surgery with replacement lenses
  • Lens luxation surgery and management surgery for general trauma to the globe
  • Glaucoma management and surgery laser retinopexy

MEDICAL TREATMENTS

  • Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (Dry Eve) pannus
  • Feline herpes virus allergic conjunctivitis
  • Uveitis
  • Hypertensive retinopathy various retinal diseases

DIAGNOSTICS

  • Full ocular and vision examinations
  • Sedated examination (when necessary) 

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES

  • Blood serologic testing for infectious diseases
  • Ocular ultrasonography of the posterior segment
  • Erg (Electroretinography for specific retinal diseases)

OFA-ECR EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Free examinations in May for service animals
  • Pro-bono consultations for the San Antonio Zoo and other various wildlife organizations

Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm by appointment only due to specific hours dedicated daily to ophthalmic examinations, consultations, and patient surgery.

Please call (210) 962-5388 to schedule your appointment and we will make sure to connect with your general veterinarian so he/she can fill out the necessary New Patient referral paperwork before your first visit. If you do not have a general veterinarian, we can still see your pet as long as it is not an urgent or emergency situation.

Patients seen after hours will be charged an emergency fee. Emergency patients can be seen during normal business hours that do not have a pre-scheduled appointment but will be charged an urgent fee upon arrival in addition to other diagnostic fees.

We kindly ask for a 24-hour notice for all appointment changes or cancellations.

Medications can be picked up at STVO throughout the week.
